Community sites and buildings in Great & Little Gidding

Community sites and buildings in Great & Little Gidding

A reminder of the request that was included on the recent issue of Gidding News:

Parish Councillors, together with Trustees of Gidding Charity, and Village Hall & Recreation Ground, will meet in February to discuss the various community sites and buildings in our Parish (Village Hall, Recreation Field, Jubilee Wood, Orchard and Allotments, Charity owned fields, pound and ponds)  We will also take the opportunity to discuss sites that may become available to the Parish in the near future, such as the School House and the School Playground.

If you have thoughts and ideas to suggest how residents can benefit and make use of these areas for the future, please make contact on ggparishcouncil@outlook.com (use heading of Community Sites) or put a note (anonymous if you wish) through the Parish Office letterbox BEFORE Friday 2nd February (please do not respond through the website).

This initial meeting will be closed to the public, a further open meeting will be held later in the year.

Family Carol Service

Family Carol Service

This Saturday (16th December) the Family Carol Service takes place in St Michael’s Church.

Starting at 6pm, there will be the opportunity for everyone to sing their favourite carols. Interspersed amongst the carols, we will hear again the Christmas story, as well as secular readings with a seasonal slant.

The collection at this service is, traditionally, given to charity, and the chosen one this year is the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Minced pies and mulled wine will be available from 5.30pm before the service, and afterwards.

Advent Carol Service

Advent Carol Service

On Sunday 3rd December, there will an Advent Carol Service in St Michael’s Church at 6pm.

There will be readings, hymns and carols reflecting this time of preparation for the coming of Jesus.

The Peterborough Chamber Choir will lead the music, under the direction of Gary Sieling, a past Assistant Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral.

After the service, refreshments will be available.

Please remember to wrap up warm!

Neighbourhood Plan – survey results events

Neighbourhood Plan - survey results events

Over the summer the team have been reviewing the results of the surveys we carried out in May.

We are organising three informal events to get your feedback. We will take you through why we are creating a Neighbourhood Plan, the survey results and our provisional conclusions. We hope you can come to a meeting, even if you have to venture to another village hall.

The three meetings are on:

  • Saturday 11th November at 2pm in Great Gidding Village Hall
  • Saturday 18th November at 3pm in Winwick Village Hall
  • Saturday 25th November at 4pm in Hamerton Village Hall

Each one will be the same format, involve most of the team, have some refreshments and last around 45 minutes to an hour.  We hope you can make it.

If you want any further information please email hamwicking@gmail.com

Kind regards

The team

Winwick Harvest Supper and Auction

Winwick Harvest Supper and Auction

Saturday 7th October 2023

Dear all,

As many of you are already aware, the auction at the Harvest Supper last year was a silent auction.  As this proved to be very successful, we will repeat this this year. Hopefully the details below will explain how it will run, but if you have any further queries or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me or Sue.

Auction contributions:

Please bring any contributions you have for the auction, to the village hall, on Friday 6th October  between 2pm and 4.30pm

or

Saturday 7th  October between 9am and 12 noon

Please do not bring your contributions on the evening.

The contributions will then be sorted into lots.

Bidding:

Bidding will take the form of a sealed bid. (Bid slips provided)

The village hall will be open for you to browse and make your bids on

Saturday 7th  October, between 2.30pm and 5pm and then again from 6.30pm until 7.15pm

During supper, the bids will be checked.  In the event of a tie for the highest bid, one of the said bids will be picked randomly from a hat.

Please check if you have been fortunate enough to win any lots, and pay for them, once the evening’s formal proceedings are over.

I look forward to seeing you there.
