The Lent course this year will use a TV series as the background to our discussions.

Rev. is a British television sitcom, which premiered on BBC 2 on 28 June 2010. Series 3 is scheduled for the spring of this year.

The Reverend Adam Smallbone (played by Tom Hollander), with his wife Alex (played by Olivia Colman), is an Anglican priest who has recently moved from a small rural parish to the “socially disunited” St Saviour in the Marshes in East London. Unable to turn anyone away from his pastoral care, Smallbone is faced with a collection of moral challenges as he balances the needs of genuine believers, people on the streets, and drug addicts, as well as the demands of social climbers using the church to get their children into the best schools.

There will be four meetings, and these will be led by Revd Mary Jepp – meetings start at 7.30pm and finish by 9.30pm latest.

Dates and locations are as follows:

Monday 3rd March (Crown Cottage/Sue Shepherd)

Monday 17th March (20 Main Street/Mary & Brian)

Monday March 24th (Buckland/Kecks)

Monday 31st March (Buckland/Kecks)

Last year’s experience of the Lent course discussions was one of interesting discussion and exploration of our attitudes to differing situations. The refreshments also helped! Finally don’t worry if you cannot make every meeting, as each session is essentially self-contained.
