(Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic)
Order 2026-10142
NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council intends to make an Order
pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic
(Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which is to stop any vehicle from
proceeding along Winwick Road, Great Gidding as lies between Back Lane and
Gidding Grove.
Access will be maintained to properties affected by this order.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B660; B1043; A1M; A605; B662; B660 and
vice versa.
The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate carriageway repairs, sign repairs and
associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will
come into operation on 1 January 2026 and continue until these works have finished
or on the 30 June 2027 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 1 January 2026
and 2 February 2026.
The Order shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any
works for which it is made, any member of the Police Force, Fire and Rescue
Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the
execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the
direction of a Police Officer in uniform.

St Michael’s Church has been at the heart of our community for nearly 800 years. Next year 2026, we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the church.
2026 events
To mark the occasion, a number of events are being planned between May and September. These include two concerts of differing musical styles, and exhibitions/displays related to the community.
Special service
There will also be a Thanksgiving Service for which music is being especially commissioned.

The County of Cambridgeshire hereby gives notice that from 00:00hrs on 9th December 2025, no vehicle shall proceed along
Bullock Road and Milking Slade Lane, Great Gidding as lies between B660 and Milking Slade Lane; Mill Road and Bullock Road
respectively.
Access will be maintained to properties affected by this Order.
The alternative route for vehicles is via B660; Mill Road and vice versa.
This Notice is made in the interest of safety because of emergency pothole repairs and will remain effective whilst there is a risk of
public danger but not for more than 21 days.
It is anticipated that these works will take place between 00:00hrs 9th December 2025 and 23:59 23rd December 2025
The Notice shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which it is made, any member of the
Police Force, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their
duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.

Starting on Sunday 30th November and every last Sunday of the month going forward there will be a “walkabout” through the King’s Wood. These are nature rambles with some knowledge sharing paired with an old fashioned Sunday afternoon stroll. They will start at 2pm in any weather. The alternative route for vehicles is via Mill Road, Main Street, Chapel End, Chapel End (D140) and vice versa.
This Notice is made in the interest of safety because of emergency carriageway repairs and will remain effective whilst there is a
risk of public danger but not for more than 21 days.
It is anticipated that these works will take place between 00:00hrs 18th November 2025 and 23:59 25th November 2025
